Custom Designed Rolling Tripod Base for Robotic Total Station use. Center piece was water jet cut from 1/4 aluminum. Can be used for any tripod mounted surveying or leveling instrument.

This foldable, easy to store and transport base will accommodate all popular brands of Tripods and has several anchor points for positive attachment (hold-down) of the tripod on the base using O-rings or small elastic cords (some included). Just loosen and remove the fasteners marked blue, fold out the'wings' and reinstall the fasteners. This base has swiveling casters for rolling along with custom floor locks that have been fortified with solid brass lifting bearings for positional stability. Many other rolling bases on the market use only locking caster wheels for stabilizing the base during stationary use.

But with this rolling base the wheels are not in contact with the floor when the floor locks are deployed - which gives you the best possible stability for your setup during use. This base not only transports your setup but is a very stable foundation for working from.

This base was used under a modern high-speed, high-torque Robotic Total Station and a heavy duty (wood) tripod. This setup delivered extremely high rotational repeatability. During a typical single setup, hundreds of robotic observations were made over several hours with no angular (back-sight) deviation.

When finished at an observation location, the floor locks can be released and your setup is ready to move. Releasing the instrument at the'tribrach' and carrying the instrument while rolling the tripod and base is best for protecting your instrument from vibrations and shocks resulting from floor conditions.
